on the way to the bus stop…
It may be indicative of an underlying cultural characteristic (to be ‘fermé’ rather than ‘ouvert’) or perhaps it’s just a result of the relentless terrain. However, throughout the countryside, the streets are lined with high stone walls and hedges on both sides - the lives of the residences, hidden behind. There are no footpaths. It makes for a daunting walk to the bus stop in the morning when the trees cast deep shadows across the street.
